- 2013: The beat goes on....
The following are images from several different clients. I'll describe a few of them here:"Blanc de Noirs" branding script for wine label was created for Lateral Branding, in Barcelona, Spain, end client Codorniu. 'Second Thoughts...' up top along with the JF monogram, and Jilt for Fame ID logo, etc.. are all for the company of that name. Edgy new line of street wear that hit the market last year. I was contacted last summer by Arion Rochman, creative director of Opus Brand Strategies, to design the "Espoma" alphabet. It was a kind of hybrid between a dense Gothic style her client, Espoma Organic Garden products had been using, and Esprit Italic. It went on the packaging redesigns for Espoma, and there's an image of the package below the art. For the rest of my brand logo designs, check out: "Special Work for Branding..." and "Logos: Corporate ID and Branding" on this site. In the spring of last year, I got an e mail from AKA, a London based ad agency specializing in entertainment promotions, asking me to work on the "Potted Potter" logo, which is - as it might sound - a spoof on Harry (same-name;-). The poster below, next to the logo image, is designed by Adam Neumann, with whom I worked directly. Art direction: Bashan Aquart. (Be sure to check out my "Titles: Broadway Shows, Books, Magazines, etc." page on this site.) Another recent addition to this page is "Survivors", by Erin Hunter, whose other series, Warriors, and Keepers I've also designed title logos for. Art direction Cara Petrus, illustration Julia Green, published by Harper Collins.

It has been a pleasure and an inspiration to work with Justin Agosta, a young up and coming street wear entrepreneur, for whom I've created some t shirt designs.
I especially enjoyed working on this logo, as it is meant to convey the sensuous and complex subtleties of fine tasting wine.

Marjorie Brook is a body work instructor and therapist extraordinaire, who contacted me late in 2012 about a logo design. After several sketches this one struck us both as the strongest, where the brush work image and script synch in the lockup.
This monogram was created for a wedding in Brunei Darussalam, on the other side of the world. It amazes me how the web has brought such clients into my 'workspace'.
This logo was designed for a young entrepreneur in the urban fashion industry.
The Bickham Script typeface, set to print at very small sizes in metalic gold on black, had both legibility and print quality issues. A larger display size didn't need the same wide letter spacing, or all the open counters, so it was customized as well. A redesign of the style, to accommodate the clients needs, while creating a more bold, distinct and proprietary script was requested. The client was Hatteras Funds, and the agency, Leibowitz Communications, NY.

I was contacted by Alexander Isely, whose design firm was completing a full identity project for Goodwill Industries, CT branch, and who wanted a script logo for the store.
Please refer to the above image caption, as this is a snap of the store signage.

"We the People” has become a visual symbol of the noble humanistic ideals that inspired our nation’s birth, and the monumental drafting of its constitution, to ensure a government for and by the people. The U.S. Constitution was drafted on September 17, 1787. It became effective March 4, 1789. Jacob Shallus who, at the time, was assistant clerk of the Pennsylvania State Assembly, and whose office was in the same building in which the Constitutional Convention was held, was given the task of engrossing the Constitution prior to its being signed.
There is no doubt that the original title design was a great and noble accomplishment, all the more so in that the first draft is said to have been penned over the period of a weekend! So, I humbly present this artwork as an alternative. A graphic designer and specialist in custom typography, I have attempted to capture the distinct historical style, along with the unique defining marks of this notable title to the preamble of our constitution. And, while doing so, to refine some of the details of the calligraphy - to bolster its balance, consistency, and legibility. I’ve also taken the liberty to condense it a bit more, as narrower letters might enhance the Fractur and Gothic style, which it loosely follows. Thus, a ‘historical modernization’; a design upgrade if you will, still recognizable, as I’ve attempted to be true to the original, while subtley elaborating the innate grace of this unique touchstone of our nations identity.
